Adewale Adetomi received the BEng degree (with First Class) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. He received the MSc degree in Electronics (with distinction and class medal); and the PhD degree, from the University of Edinburgh. His PhD thesis was on “Dynamic Reconfiguration Frameworks for High-Performance Reliable Real-Time Reconfigurable Computing”.

At present, Adewale is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate on the Connect-R project, which aims to develop an industrial-scale self-building modular robotic solution to provide access to work sites in hazardous environments. Adewale’s research includes the development of reconfigurable hardware-based high-performance computing architectures with a strong focus on reliability.

Before joining the Soft Systems Group, he has worked on developing FPGA-based reliable computing architectures for robots in extreme environments for the management of UK’s legacy nuclear wastes, and also targeting space applications (e.g., satellites) under a partnership project with the National Centre for Nuclear Robotics (NCNR) and the hub for Future AI and Robotics for Space (FAIR-SPACE). He has also worked under collaboration with Leonardo UK to scope the potential of RF signals of opportunity for GPS-denied navigation, and researched device technologies capable of resolving the angle of arrival of these signals. He has over 20 publications in reputable IEEE journals and conferences.

Adewale has been a guest lecturer for Digital System Design 4 (ELEE10007) and a teaching assistant for Digital Systems Laboratories (ELEE10023 and ELEE09018).
