Ruby’s research is exploring the use of soft robotic variable stiffness mechanisms in marine propulsion systems. The aim of her current research is to implement the bio-inspired concept of operating at or near resonance, by actively controlling the stiffness of the system, to enhance the efficiency of self-propelled motion. Her research interests includes soft robotics, prosthetics and orthotics, biomimetics, aero-hydrodynamics and fluid mechanics.
