Linguistics and Engineering, led Simona to Physical Oceanography. Observational Oceanography inevitably deals with a large amount of diverse data and here is where the intersection with Orca Hub arises. Orca project largely relies on in-situ data collection, data processing and distribution. The project includes the design and deployment of Subsea instruments, as well as Top-Side and Air devices. Here is where the engineering knowledge comes to hand. Simona is interested in the entire process of data collections, form the device design to the deployment setting and ultimately in output data. The information collected with Orca will constitute a whole new class of data, which will bring together a heterogeneous natures, i.e. renewable energy systems, environment monitoring and oil and gas. Simona’s polyhedric preparation therefore well matches with Orca’s mission.
