We are excited to announce that we will be guest editing an Advanced Intelligent Systems special issue on Self-Assembling Systems. The guest editors on this special issue are:
- Dr. Mohammed E. Sayed (Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Soft Systems Group, University of Edinburgh)
- Mr. Jamie O. Roberts (PhD Candidate in the Soft Systems Group, University of Edinburgh)
- Dr. Mirko Kovac (Director of the Aerial Robotics Laboratory, Imperial College London)
- Prof. Markus J. Buehler (Director of the Laboratory for Atomistic & Molecular Mechanics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology)
- Dr. Adam A. Stokes (Director of the Soft Systems Research Group, University of Edinburgh)
The issue will directly emerge from our ICRA 2020 workshop ‘Self-Assembling and Reconfigurable Systems’, which we talked about here.
Although the content generated from the workshop will be invaluable to the community, it is in an unorthodox from. This special issue provides the speakers, and others, the chance to present their knowledge in a more conventional form and we hope this issue will be just as valuable in the literature as the podcasts and talks from the workshop are. The papers in the special issue are expected to be available online for everyone to read before the end of the year.
